Title: Holiday Workshops at The Mill

Full description: We welcome you to join us at the Donkey Mill Art Center for a full day of festivities and art celebrating this season of gratitude and giving. The Donkey Mill will be a frenzy of activity and entertainment all day; this is a great opportunity to come create with us and find out what our community art center is all about.  

Please register in advance for the workshop of your choice, and be sure to only sign up for one. 

Our schedule will feature: 
10:00am - 1:00pm  Three in-depth classes:

Spend your morning learning a craft with one of our teaching artists, with your choice of three engaging projects. 


Lauhala Christmas Ornaments with Nanette Bell
Join Kumu Nanette Bell to make your choice of several simple lauhala ornaments. Lauhala (from the Hawaiian word “lau,” which means leaf) is traditional plaited weaving using leaves from the hala tree to create functional and decorative items.

Cyanotype Photography with Laurel Schultz 
Make unique holiday cards using a historic photographic method, cyanotype printing, and preserve the beauty of nature to beautiful effect.
Location: Main Space and Youth Studio
Supply Fee: $5
Ages 9+


Tea and Ti with Gerald Lucena and Mina Elison
In this holiday workshop, learn how the ti plant was used in traditional Hawaiian culture and join curator Mina Elison and artist Gerald Lucena for a special lesson on ti leaf lei and puolo making.

Ages 15+
